Built for
Builders.
MonkiiBoard started as a late-night obsession with custom keyboards and grew into something bigger — a resource for everyone who wants to build, not just buy.
Mission
Make custom keyboards accessible to anyone willing to learn.
The custom keyboard hobby can feel intimidating from the outside — expensive group buys, jargon-heavy forums, and builds that seem to require specialist skills. It doesn't have to be that way.
Every MonkiiBoard design is documented completely. We publish 3D-printed plate files, Arduino firmware, and step-by-step build guides with real photos. If you want to understand why we made a design decision, we explain it. If you want to change something, the files are there.
Nothing here is for sale. It's all here to be built.
The Team
Hoang
Co-founder · Hardware & Firmware
Designs the plates in OnShape and writes the Arduino firmware. Has a problem buying more switches than he'll ever solder.
Duc
Co-founder · Industrial Design
Handles case design, 3D printing, and making sure the builds look as good as they type.
What We Stand For
Open Source, Always
Every design file, firmware, and schematic we produce is published publicly. No paywalls, no locked files, no exceptions.
Document Everything
A design without a build guide is half a design. We write thorough guides with real photos, not just parts lists.
Community First
The comments on every build guide are real conversations. We read them and they shape what we design next.
Accessible to Beginners
We write guides for people who have never soldered. You don't need to be an engineer to build a great keyboard.
No Gimmicks
We design for function and longevity. No upsells, no limited drops, no artificial scarcity.
Built to Last
Every decision favors repairability. Hot-swap sockets, open firmware, printable cases.
Build Together.
Join the community sharing blueprints, troubleshooting circuits, and showcasing their builds.
