Two plates. One matrix.
That is a MonkiiBoard.
Every board we make is a sandwich. A 3D printed top plate, a 3D printed bottom plate, and the whole key matrix pressed in between. That one idea is what keeps our keyboards cheap to build, tough enough for daily abuse, and simple enough to take apart on a kitchen table. Wire the matrix by hand or drop in one of our printed boards, whichever you prefer.
Every plate file, PCB design, and firmware sketch lives on GitHub, free to download and free to change. Redraw the whole thing and make it unmistakably yours.
Built by hand,
built to last.
Whether the matrix is handwired or sitting on one of our printed boards, it gets pressed between two light 3D printed PLA plates. The switches mount on top while the MCU and diodes sit in the middle, fully exposed, fully repairable, and completely yours.
We design every plate in OnShape and build it by hand. Each board costs a fraction of what a traditional keyboard runs, and it never trades away durability or feel to get there.
Handwired or PCB
Wire every switch by hand for the lowest cost and the clearest view of how a keyboard works, or print one of our boards and skip straight to soldering.
Arduino Firmware
We program the MCUs straight in the Arduino IDE, whether that is a Pro Micro ATmega32U4 or an RP2040 Zero. No framework lock in, full control from the first boot.
Open Source
Every plate file, wiring diagram, and piece of firmware is free, always. Build it, change it, make it better. That is the whole point.
