About This Design

The MonkiiBoard58 is the biggest thing we have drawn so far, and the first one meant to work without a cable. It is a 58-key layout on a 5×12 matrix, running on an ESP32-S3 so it can talk Bluetooth LE instead of USB, with a Li-ion battery, onboard USB-C charging, an OLED and a rotary encoder. We want to be straight with you about where it stands: the schematic and the board layout are finished, but we have not had one fabricated yet, so nothing on this page is a photo of a working keyboard. Everything you see is CAD renders and KiCad output. If you would rather not wait for us, the files are on GitHub and the design walkthrough below explains every decision in it.
